Implementation of the School Bus Safety Training 101 TxDOT grant
along with other TxDOT grants in the area of safety restraints. Drug awareness

in the areas that will lead to safe and careful drivers throughout the Region 6

Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field
Current Texas School Bus
Driver Training Certification.
Current Class B Commercial
Driver’s License with passenger (P) and school bus (S) endorsement.
Third Party Commercial
Driver’s License examiner certification (Preferred)
Minimum three years of
School Bus Safety Training and School Transportation experience.
Special Knowledge & Skills
High degree of professionalism including strong public relations skills.
Ability to establish
rapport and work in collaboration with public school and ESC personnel.
Ability to work on multiple
tasks with minimal supervision.
Ability to use
development to School Bus Drivers, Driver Trainers & Transportation
Have current knowledge
of: Public-School Transportation operation; Texas Bus driver requirements;
Texas Bus Driver Training curriculum, School Bus laws, legislation, and any
requirements set by the state; Texas Commercial Driver’s License requirements;
traffic laws related to school buses and the transportation of students.
Ability to move, setup,
operate and maintain school bus simulator.
Ability to operate
maintenance equipment and lift heavy items.
Must have a safe driving
Major Responsibilities or Duties
Collaborate with School Transportation Directors on proposed training topics and materials used in School Bus Safety Training 101 workshops
in the development and implementation of SB 101 workshops.
Workshops, Recruit, and Train School Bus Transportation Personnel with the
developed Simulator curriculum and resource material.
to TxDOT objectives, guidelines, deadlines, and reporting to the grant
School Bus Simulator Trailer and Software Unit.
in the implementation of STOP Grant workshops in the areas of proper use of
in the implementation of Ad-A-STEP Grant workshops in the areas of drug
awareness and safety activities.
assigned bus driver 20-hour Certification and 8-hour Re-Certification courses
