Texas Home Learning - Elementary Math Specialist...



Job Goal: To provide on-site or virtual instructional coaching and technical support as well as professional development to participating PK-12 educational entities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).
  • Master’s Degree (preferred).    
  • Valid Texas teacher certification required.
  • 15 hours in mathematics course work preferred.
  • Three years of classroom teaching experience required.
  • Mathematics teaching experience preferred.
  • Instructional coaching/mentoring experience preferred.
  • Professional development experience preferred.
Special Knowledge & Skills:
  • Knowledge of research-based strategies used with young students to adult learners.
  • Knowledge of Pre-Kindergarten Guidelines and TEKS.
  • Ability to develop, coordinate, and deliver professional development face-to-face or virtually.
  • Ability to create and provide professional development based on pre-determined published material. 
  • Ability to interpret data and evaluate the instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
  • Ability to work with public and charter school teachers, administrators and instructional personnel.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Major Job Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with ESC content specialists and participating LEAs to pilot the use of Texas Home Learning curriculum.
  • Offer ongoing support in the form of professional learning community (PLC) meetings, professional development, data analysis and technical assistance to support each educational entity including, but not limited to, directors, administrators, and teachers.
  • Provide instructional coaching to participants in the CRIMSI Grant pilot. ·        Coordinate assigned instructional coaching projects including, but not limited to goal setting, classroom observations, model teaching, and providing resources. Attend training to increase knowledge and expertise of teacher-student interactions, coaching, etc.
  • Assist in designing and producing professional development and related materials based on needs to support, increase, and create quality instructional practices within Region 6.
  • Monitor and maintain records/documentation, meet timelines, establish project goals and metrics and report project implementation activities and progress to TEA, including assisting in annual reports and a culminating report at the conclusion of the pilot.
  • Attend and participate in professional development, meetings, and trainings including monthly ESC 6 professional development.
  • Collaborate to create and produce quality professional development and follow up communications including, but not limited to, a blog or newsletters.
