Career and Technical Education Specialist...



Job Goal:
To serve as a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Specialist by providing professional development, compliance support, and technical assistance to LEAs in Region 6 in order to develop effective, high quality CTE programs.  

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Education preferred
  • Texas Teacher Certification in the field of CTE
  • Minimum five years teaching and/or supervisor experience in the field of Career and Technical Education.
  • Working knowledge and experience with compliance and state and fiscal guidelines under the Carl Perkins Grant.
  • Experience working with diverse groups of educators, counselors, administrators, and students.
  • Experience in planning, developing, and presenting professional development to adults.
  • Training and experience in curriculum and/or program development for CTE programs
Special Knowledge & Skills:
  • High degree of professionalism including strong organizational, communication, and public relations skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with public school, ESC and state personnel
  • Ability to prepare and provide professional development to educators of all levels 
  • Knowledge of state and federal guidelines for CTE programs and funding         
    Ability to effectively work with diverse personalities
  • Ability to effectively work with diverse personalities 
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision         
    Ability to utilize current technology platforms and software

Major Responsibilities
  • Respond to clients' needs in a courteous and timely manner with current, accurate information.
  • Utilize distance learning technologies for meetings/technical assistance/trainings Follow all federal, state, and ESC guidelines, policies, and procedures.      
    Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships between the ESC and LEAs
  • Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships between the ESC and LEAs Maintain all internal and external required program paperwork and program documentation and submit by requested deadlines.
  • Collaborate with CTE and other ESC program area staff to coordinate program activities, trainings, technical assistance and program information dissemination. Support LEA staff at all levels in understanding the benefits of individualized programs of study based on career clusters and pathways for college and career readiness
  • Other duties as may be assigned
  • Conduct required regional CTE professional development and technical assistance activities as specified in grant guidelines
  • Assist identified LEAs with preparation for, and during, on-site MOA visits or desk audits by the TEA
  • Assist LEAs with identified compliance issues and/or corrective actions
  • Follow guidelines and reporting deadlines provided by the TEA
  • Facilitate relationships between LEAs and local business and industry, Workforce Development Boards, Institutes of Higher Education (IHE), etc.
  • Provide training and support in program effectiveness and compliance, and the Carl Perkins Federal Application and Compliance Reporting
  • Plan and facilitate networking meetings and disseminate information to update directors in a timely manner
  • Work with the TEA CTE staff to promote the statewide goals and objectives
    Serve as the CTE point of contact for the EcosSTEM grant and facilitate the specific grant training requirements
  • Coordinate with ESC science and math specialists to support the ESC EcosySTEM grant Attend all required TEA meetings, conferences and TETNS  
  • Serve as a point of contact for the ESC Perkins Grant SSA members
  • Assist SSA member LEAs with development of local needs assessments, continuous improvement plans, and implementation of CTE programs
  • Assist with grant management and budget planning to carry out the SSA activities
  • Facilitate relationships between LEAs and local business and industry, Workforce Development Boards, Institutes of Higher Education (IHE), etc.
  • Plan and conduct/facilitate professional development to meet the needs of SSA member districts
Terms of Employment:

Pay is commensurate with experience
