Job Description: To lead House Bill 3 Reading Academies Cohorts for districts within Region 6 under the guidance of the Texas Education Agency and Region 6 ESC. Potential range for work is 13-40 hours per week. Hours are dependent on Region 6 Reading Academies enrollment and needs for both Bilingual and non Bilingual cohort leaders.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field (required)
Master's Degree in Education or related field (preferred)
Certifications:
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Ability to successfully complete all House Bill 3 Reading Academies Cohort Leader screening and training requirements as determined by the Texas Education Agency
Experience:
Minimum five years teaching experience (required)
Experience in instructional coaching (preferred)
Experience in facilitating professional learning (preferred)
Special Knowledge or Skills:
Knowledge of the Science of Teaching Reading and the ability to learn all House Bill 3 Reading Academies content
High degree of professionalism including strong public relations skills
Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with school and ESC personnel
Presentation skills; ability to facilitate House Bill 3 Reading Academies modules to educators
Training and/or experience in K-3 reading
Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Willingness to travel
Ability to access and utilize technology for remote facilitation of House Bill 3 Reading Academies
Major Responsibilities or Duties:
Communicate information regarding the Texas Reading Academies with ESC clients and ESC staff
Facilitate intensive, sustained professional development in instructional strategies and content with appropriate follow-up for the House Bill 3 Reading Academies
Provide technical assistance to districts regarding the House Bill 3 Reading Academies
Provide instructional coaching and support in accordance with the Texas Education Agency House Bill 3 Reading Academies model
Stay abreast of and adhere to all changes, updates, and requirements regarding House Bill 3 Reading Academies
Support districts in all aspects of the House Bill 3 Reading Academies
Assist with dissemination of materials and information regarding House Bill 3 Reading Academies
With the assistance of Region 6 ESC, maintain records of participant attendance and successful completion of all House Bill 3 Reading Academies requirements and artifact submission
Adhere to all requirements and duties of a Cohort Leader as determined by the Texas Education Agency and Region 6 ESC
Perform other duties as assigned
