Job Goal:
To develop the Region 6 ESC educational goals through effective and efficient staff development in developmentally appropriate instructional strategies and assessment procedures to improve student achievement. To coordinate and align high quality professional development across all content areas.
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education (required)
Master's Degree in Education or related field (preferred)
Certified in Texas Reading/Language Arts or related field
Minimum five years teaching experience
Special Knowledge & Skills:
High degree of professionalism including strong public relations skills
Ability to establish rapport and work in collaboration with public school and
ESC personnel
Presentation skills; ability to provide professional development to educators
Training and experience in reading and language arts
Ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Ability to use technology effectively
Ability to maintain professionalism with ESC clients and ESC staff
Willingness to travel
Major Responsibilities:
Communicate appropriate information with ESC clients and ESC staff.
Plan and deliver intensive, sustained professional development and technical
assistance in instructional strategies and content with appropriate follow-up
for reading and language arts
Provide training in state content standards and assistance to schools in the
implementation of the reading and language arts TEKS and preparation for
reading and language arts assessments.
Provide professional development and technical assistance in long range
planning, curriculum alignment and implementation and assessment in reading
and language arts
Provide staff development in the integration of reading and language arts with
technology and other subjects, as appropriate
Model and coach Region 6 supported instructional practices
Assist with dissemination of reading and language arts materials/information
and marketing of reading and language arts offerings
Manage and/or assist with grant programs related to the area of reading and
language arts if appropriate
Manage calendar and workshop planning and scheduling for maximizing
participation
Align professional development services across content areas.
Coordinate content specialist to support Region 6 districts with content related professional development.
Stay up to date on the most current applicable information from TEA and Region 6 supported instructional practices.
Attend outside conferences as approved by supervisor and as funding allows.
Perform other duties as assigned
